FunFactory_Lego by LePrau (leprau@leprau.de) ------------------------------------ This map created by me for the cstrike.de FunFactory-Contests in the year 2002. The environment should look like an area made of Lego-Bricks. Basically this map is a ----------------- ------ Shred Hunt ------ ----------------- (Do you have a word like this? That was what google told me ;D) --- How to play ---- The goal is to find legobricks within the map and then to use them. But there is only one active brick at a time. When it has been found a new one will spawn somewhere. The team that gets 11 points first wins. All the bricks are sized 4x2 nobbs and are coloured according to their surroundings, so they are kinda cloaked ;D And it is a good idea to duck or jump sometimes because some bricks are almost ... hidden. --- Fairness --- The terrain is the same for both teams. They look identically and even the legobricks are at the same place. Even the active bricks are at equal positions. There are no weapons, even buying is impossible. While you cannot reach the enemies area there is no need for ;D The only way to win lays in running through your area and finding 11 bricks faster than the other team does ... By the way: The teams are no longer terrorists and counter-terrorists but the BLUE team and the RED team. --- The Maproom --- Between both teams areas is the maproom. There both teams will find an overview of the level. This overview is split into 8 parts (maproom left out) and one of these sectors is active, representing the sector in which the current brick should be found. In case there is no sector active, means no brick to find you will findtwo "Spawn New Brick"-buttons. They have to be triggered simultaneously to have an effect: The random event generator will let a new brick spawn. You can look into the enemies area through a nearly invisible wall between the sectors just for checking if everything is fair and correct ;D There are two more buttons for each team: They give a short explanation of how to play the map, one english and one german. They do not affect the gameplay anyway. --- Known Bugs --- A map with over 1200 entities must have some bugs .... These are the known: - Textures made in Paint (So what! They fit great!) - sometimes no new brick spawns and - sometimes a brick spawns twice and - only sometimes two bricks spawn reason : the random event generator needs exact time-settings, 1 event in 1 second and the Half-Life-engine doenst seem to work that exact all the time ... this bug cannot be fixed but the current workaround is "spawn new brick" and should work fine ;) A brick spawned twice at the same place? Conincidence! Believe it or don't! - there is no bombspot - there are even no hostages - and in general: the map isn't DUST-like at all! reason : see above (read the whole text!) - under bad cirumstances the map may cause a servercrash: "AllocEr: No free edicts" I've looked for solutions in forums (e.g. Valve-ERC) but only found out a) they are known b) they are caused by too many entities c) they can only be fixed by deleting entities (hoho! funny) or splitting the map with levelchanges (hohoho! even funnier) But we hadn't such crashes with the actual (=this) release. We've played with 6 players. Even with 16x15 bots and me as player the error didn't occure. Means: Just hope ... and IF this crash happens try to find out a) how many players were on the server b) which buttons where activated within the map c) have cheats been used d) was additional serverstuff installed (Adminmod, Anticheattools etc.) and mail with those informations to me -> leprau@leprau.de ------- Last but not least: Credits ------ Everyone I wanna mention in this readme: (order doesn't matter) --- Texturen --- made by me, but positive influences through AEON, Telly[D1] and others For maptesting AEON, Andy, caedes, voice, feigling, Raptor, Fratzi, Teranite, psychosven and others For netvising (daved time!)
